End the war on the poor! Join the tenants union! Fight fascism!

Join the Sacramento Valley Tenants Union as we celebrate the public launch of our member-funded union with music, food, art, and a cross-movement discussion about community defense. SVTU will facilitate a conversation between local organizations engaged in community defense against the fascist onslaught. We’ll exchange ideas and plant seeds for how to defend our most vulnerable neighbors, including immigrants, the unhoused, and our trans siblings. Participating organizations include Sac Punks with Lunch, NorCal Resist, a trans/queer defense affinity group and more to be announced in the coming days! We’ll explore how our movements intersect, emphasizing base building as the key strategy to tackling the housing and tenant crisis devastating our community.

We invite you to become a dues-paying member of the SVTU at this event! SVTU is an autonomous, tenant-led, member-funded, all-volunteer movement fighting for the human right to housing. We center the poor, immigrants, refugees, and all historically marginalized peoples as we fight for safe, affordable, and dignified housing for all. As an autonomous union we strive to be completely member-funded and solely accountable to our tenant base. Dues help us sustain our movement by supporting the purchase of vital supplies such as interpretation equipment, flyers, banners, and meals for our tenant association meetings and workshops.

Program starts at 1 PM sharp! Stay afterwards for a celebration featuring a landlord piñata, food, a DJ (@aerial__m) playing your favorite cumbias, SVTU swag including our Bully Your Landlord t-shirts, mingling with your neighbors, live screen printing, and an art build for the tenants’ movement!
